Please note all of the Silent Gliss tracks are available up to 6m as a single piece so are suitable for extra wide windows and bi-fold doors. You can join track together if you have a requirement for a track over 6m. We can also bend all of the Silent Gliss tracks (except the Silent Gliss triple track 6293) so they are all suitable for bay and L shaped windows.
The document refers to tracks that use the new 2C glider technology. Please watch our YouTube video that explains the difference between the old style standard gliders and new 2C model.
For a more decorative track option you may wish to consider the Silent Gliss Metropole range. These have been designed to look like a curtain pole but operate like a track and are available in a range of contemporary colours to complement current interior design trends. They are available with a range of finial styles in a 23mm, 30mm and 50mm diameter and can be hand drawn or corded (30mm and 50mm only). The 30mm and 50mm are available with wave gliders so are suitable for wave curtains.
We have classified the tracks into hand drawn tracks (page 2), corded tracks (page 3) and motorised tracks (page 5). Page 4 shows different curtain heading styles.
Hand Draw Curtain Tracks
These have been classified by track shape.
Flat Track Profiles:
The flat track profile is a more traditional shape for a curtain track and there are 3 track choices. The Silent Gliss 1080 curtain track is suitable for light-medium weight curtains and is available in 6 colours. The Silent Gliss 1280 track is suitable for heavyweight curtains and is available in white. The Silent Gliss 6380 curtain track uses the new, quieter 2C gliders (please see YouTube video link above) and is also wave compatible so is suitable for wave curtains. This track is available in white.
Rectangular Track Profiles:
There are 3 rectangular track profiles available, all compatible with the wave curtain heading style so suitable for wave curtains. They also all use the new 2C glider technology for a quieter draw. The main difference between the 3 tracks are the size of the track profiles and the weight capacity of the tracks. The Silent Gliss 6465 track is a very slim track and measures 12.5mm from the top of the track to the bottom. This can be particularly useful if space is limited above your window or door, or if you have a window or door that opens inwards. The Silent Gliss 6870 is a popular track and is available in 6 contemporary colours. The Silent Gliss 6970 track offers a heavyweight track option and comes in white.
Rounded Track Profiles:
Rounded track profiles are popular as they are more reminiscent of a curtain pole shape. If you are ceiling fixing these tracks they give a flush fit to the ceiling so are discrete, modern and minimal. The Silent Gliss 6010 curtain track offers a slim option and measure 16mm from the top of the track profile to the bottom. The Silent Gliss 6840 track is a popular choice as it is available in 6 contemporary colours to suit modern colour schemes and interior design styles.
Funnel Shaped Profiles:
The funnel shape is a new launch from Silent Gliss and offers a contemporary look. There are 2 tracks available. The Silent Gliss 1020 track is a slim track ideal for voiles, sheers or nets. The Silent Gliss 6820 track is compatible with the wave gliders so it also suitable for wave curtains. Both of the funnel style tracks can only be ceiling fitted and are available in white.
Slim Track Profiles:
Silent Gliss have a couple of very slim track profiles only suitable for lightweight curtains such as voiles, sheers or nets. The Silent Gliss 1090 track is available in white and silver, and the Silent Gliss 1070 is available with the new 2C glider technology. The 1070 is ceiling fix only, whereas the 1090 can also be wall fixed. Both of these tracks work well as a double track, with a larger track in front for a heavier curtain. If you are ceiling fixing 2 tracks you can simply position one in front of the other. For wall fixing a double track please refer to our double tracks for options.
Ceiling Recess Fitting:
There are 4 recess tracks available. All the tracks are available with the new 2C glider technology for quieter operation, an upgrade to roller gliders is also available on all the tracks (which is recommended if your curtains are on the heavy side) and all the tracks are wave compatible so are suitable for wave curtains. The Silent Gliss 6243 is a slim track profile that fits into a ceiling recess / channel, however it doesn’t come with a recess profile (unlike the other 3 hand drawn recess track options). The Silent Gliss 6870 and 6465 come with a recess profile. This is fixed into the ceiling recess first and then the tracks are positioned into the recess profile. The Silent Gliss 6970 track offers a heavyweight option.
Triple Track:
Silent Gliss have recently launched a triple track Silent Gliss 6293 with 3 glider channels for maximum versatility. The track has been designed for a voile, sheer or net curtain on the rear channel, and a main curtain on the front two channels. You can position one curtain on each channel to give a wide overlap to reduce light ingress. Alternatively you could position your main curtain on the front channel and use the middle channel seasonally, for a thermal lining in the winter or a blackout lining in the summer for example. The track also works really well to create different layered effects adding texture, depth & dimension to your window treatment.
Corded Curtain Tracks:
We have classified the corded curtain tracks, firstly by the curtain heading style you are going for. There is a weight chart on each of the product specification tabs for all of our corded tracks so please refer to these for weight guidance.
Corded Curtain Tracks for traditional curtain headings:
Traditional curtain headings include pencil pleat, a gathered heading, double or triple pinch pleats (please refer to page 4 of the document for more information). We then classify the tracks by weight suitability.
Corded Curtain Tracks with a traditional curtain heading, light to medium weight curtains:
There are 3 track options; the Silent Gliss 3000 track is a flat track profile available in white and is available with standard gliders only. The Silent Gliss 3870 offers a rectangular track profile and is available in 6 contemporary colours. The pulley housing on this track is integrated into the track profile so gives a neater finish. This track can however only be corded one side. The Silent Gliss 3840 offers a rounded track profile, comes in 6 colours and can be corded from both sides which is recommended on straight tracks over 4m and bent tracks over 3m.
Corded Curtain Tracks with a traditional curtain heading, heavyweight curtains:
Again there are 3 options. The Silent Gliss 3900 curtain track is a flat track profile and is a really popular choice for heavier curtains as the track comes with roller style gliders to aid the opening and closing of the curtains. For a more contemporary shape you could consider the Silent Gliss 3870 (rectangular profile) or the Silent Gliss 3840 (rounded profile) and upgrade to roller gliders. These tracks are available in 6 colours. For a heavyweight option the Silent Gliss 3970 may be suitable.
Corded Curtain Tracks compatible with wave curtains:
If you are wall fixing or standard ceiling fixing the tracks there are 2 options available; Silent Gliss 3870 (rectangular profile) or the Silent Gliss 3840 (rounded profile). Both are available in 6 contemporary colours and with the ceiling clamp style bracket give a flush fit to the ceiling for a minimal, contemporary look. The advantage of the Silent Gliss 3870 track is that the pulley housing is integrated into the track profile so looks neater, however this track can only be corded on one side. Silent Gliss recommend straight tracks over 4m and corded tracks over 3m are corded both sides, or indeed if your curtains are on the heavy side. For a heavyweight option the Silent Gliss 3970 curtain track may be suitable. Please refer to the weight charts on the product specification tabs for weight guidance.
Corded Curtain Tracks Ceiling Recess Fitting:
If you are looking for a corded curtain track that can be ceiling recess fitted there are 2 options; the Silent Gliss 3870 track can be supplied with the new 2C gliders, roller gliders (which is recommended if your curtains are on the heavy side) or wave gliders (if you have wave curtains). The Silent Gliss 3970 track is a heavyweight track and comes as standard with roller gliders. This track is also compatible with wave gliders for wave curtains. Both of these tracks come with a recess profile that is fitted into the recessed channel. The track is then secured into the recess profile with profile wedges.
Motorised Curtain Tracks:
The Silent Gliss 5100 Autoglide track is a popular motorised curtain track for residential use. There are 4 models available; basic (with an open/close switch), remote control (that comes with an open/close switch and a remote), timer (that comes with an open/close switch and a timer unit) and total control (which includes the open/close switch, timer unit and remote control). The maximum length is 5m and maximum weight capacity is 25kg.
If you require a track over 5m, or are looking for a heavy duty track we would recommend the Silent Gliss 5600 track that is available up to 25m and has a maximum weight capacity of 65kg!
For home automation options you may wish to consider the Somfy range of tracks. These integrate with home automation systems such as Alexa.
