Silent Gliss 3840 Corded Aluminium Curtain Track – suitable for wave curtains – round profile – now also available in black!
The Silent Gliss 3840 is a neat, attractive curtain track suitable for medium weight curtains and compatible with the wave curtain heading.  An upgrade to roller gliders makes the track suitable for heavier curtains so please select ‘roller gliders’ if your curtains are on the heavy side.  Purpose designed for ceiling fixing but face fix brackets are also available. This track has the same appearance from both sides so is suitable as a room divider.  The profile is curved slightly so looks aesthetically appealing.  If you would prefer a squarer profile please consider the Silent Gliss 3870 corded curtain track.  This track is supplied with 14 of the new 2C standard gliders per metre or 10 roller gliders per metre as standard.  If you are choosing wave gliders the track will come with the calculated number of wave gliders for your track length.  This track comes complete with gliders, brackets, end stops and fixings.
Silent Gliss recommend that straight tracks over 400cm are corded both sides.  You may also wish to consider this on shorter lengths if your curtains are on the heavy side of medium, or if you would like to operate your curtains independently to each other, to block out the sun on one side of your room for example, or if you have one curtain that is wider than the other. This does mean the track will come in 2 pieces with an intermediate pulley.
This track is also suitable for the popular wave heading system. The wave gliders are evenly spaced either 80mm or 60mm apart and give a neat fold on your curtains for a stylish finish. Please note you do need to use specific wave heading tape so the wave gliders are not suitable for curtains with other heading types such as pinch pleat or pencil pleat. Please click here for more information on the Wave system.
To complement the black finish, standard 2c gliders, 60mm and 80mm standard wave gliders and track components are now also available in black for a co-ordinated look. Â When ordering your 3840 track with standard 2c or standard wave gliders you can now choose between black or white gliders. Â When black gliders are ordered all track components will also be supplied in black. Â Please note the end caps on the actual track will match the colour of the track profile.
Please note for wall fixing with standard or roller gliders the nylon bracket (3836) is only available in white.
This product is made to order so there is a 3-4 working day lead-time.
Please note these tracks are all made to measure and cannot be returned or exchanged unless faulty.
We are delighted to be offering a wide range of Laura Ashley curtains on our website.
Wave curtains
We specialise in the wave curtain heading and are here to offer help and advice.  We offer a made to measure wave curtain making service in a wide variety of fabrics including Silent Gliss, Clarke & Clarke, Prestigious Textiles, Ashley Wilde, Harlequin and Sanderson to name a few of the fabric houses we work with. Click here for more information on the wave heading and shop suitable fabrics.  A wave curtain needs to be made specifically to fit your track length so the curtains arrive with the correct number of curtain hooks to match the number of gliders on the track.  If you order your track and curtains from us we will ensure these match so your curtains will be ready to hang upon delivery.  Please call us on 01590 615775 or email sales@thehomeofinteriors.co.uk if you’d like any fabric swatches sending out or would like to discuss your project in more detail.  The standard lead-time on our wave curtains is 3-4 weeks (subject to fabric availability).
Supplied in 2 pieces from:Â Silent Gliss recommend straight tracks over 4m and bent tracks over 3m are corded both sides. Â This means the track will be supplied in 2 pieces with an intermediate pulley and connecting pieces.
Weight Allowance: please see chart for weight guide information.
Please watch our YouTube video on the bracket options available for this track and an explanation of the smart fix brackets and upgrade to square smart fix.
Ceiling Fixing – all glider options
If ceiling fixing this track the 3825 clamp bracket will be supplied. Â This bracket gives a lovely flush fit to the ceiling.
Wall Fixing – Standard and Roller Gliders
If ordering the track with standard or roller gliders we offer the option of the nylon brackets (3836) or an upgrade to the Silent Gliss 60mm smart fix brackets. Â The nylon brackets are included in the standard pricing (there is an oncost for the smart fix brackets) and are available in white. Â The smart fix brackets will be colour matched to your track.
Wall Fixing – Wave Gliders
If wall fixing the Silent Gliss smart fix brackets will be supplied. Â These will match the colour of your track.
The 80mm bracket will be supplied with 60mm wave gliders and the 100mm bracket will be supplied with 80mm wave gliders. This is to ensure the track sits far enough away from the wall for the wave to fold without touching the wall.
Smart Fix Bracket Upgrade
For all smart fix brackets we offer the option of upgrading to the square smart fix brackets. Â This is a popular choice as the square smart fix brackets are more discreet than the standard brackets. Â If you order the tracks for a pair of curtains we will supply two standard smart fix brackets (one for each end of the track) as these will be concealed by the curtains. Â The rest of the brackets will be square smart fix ones. Â For a single curtain one standard smart fix bracket will be supplied (for the end of the track where the curtains will hang) and the rest will be square smart fix.
Bracket Quantity
To work out the total number of brackets you will receive with your track divide the track length in cm by 100, then multiply this by 2, add 1 and round up to the nearest whole number.
For example on a 300cm track you will receive:
300/100 = 3 x 2 = 6 + 1 = 7 brackets.
This track is available to order with the new 2C standard gliders (that are even quieter than the old standard gliders), roller gliders or wave gliders. 14 2C (standard) gliders are supplier per metre and 10 roller gliders are supplier as standard per metre. Â The number of wave gliders required will be calculated on the track length ordered.
Standard 2c and standard wave gliders are now available in black or white which can be specified when ordering.

Get the ‘Wave’ look!
The wave heading is a contemporary curtain heading style that is now widely seen in showhomes and is gaining in popularity. Â The wave system offers a more contemporary, neat and stylish curtain presentation to more traditional curtain headings such as pencil pleat or pinch pleat. The finished appearance is similar to that of eyelet curtains but the fabric hangs directly below the curtain track in a neat and uniform style.
Wave has some key advantages over more traditional curtain headings:
Minimised curtain stack
Simple curtain dressing
Form throughout the curtain drop
Minimalist appearance
Suits traditional and modern interiors
Compatible with pelmets
The ‘wave’ effect is suitable for voiles and curtains and is created through combining a specially designed heading tape and Wave glider-cord to get a soft and simple continuous wave effect. When opened the curtains stack back neatly and straight and when closed the fabric hangs in a smooth continuous wave effect.  Please view our YouTube video that explains this in more detail.
You will then need to purchase ‘wave’ curtains.  Shop our range of wave curtains here.  Wave curtains are made using a specific wave heading tape  to achieve the wave look.  Readymade wave curtains are not available as a wave curtain needs to be specially made to fit your track length.  The amount of fabric and gliders required are all calculated based on the track length so the make up of wave curtains is very mathematical!  If you are making your own wave curtains for the first time and have any questions please give us a call on 01590 615775 and we will be happy to give you some advice.  You will find all the wave curtain accessories here.
Decide where the track is to be positioned. This is usually above the window with the track extending either side beyond the window.
Step 1: Measure the width of your window.
Step 2: The chart below provides guidance for making an allowance either side of your window for your curtain stack (shown as ‘B’ on the diagram above). This is particularly important if you want the curtains to clear the glazing when open. Please note the curtain heading, fabric thickness and lining specification will affect the width of the stack back. How much you would like the curtains to clear the window is down to personal preference. The chart below however is a good guide.
Step 3: Add the width of your window onto the ‘B’ measurement (x 2 for a pair of curtains) to give you the finished track length (A).
Recess Fitting
If you are fitting your track wall to wall or within a recess we recommend you take the wall to wall measurement and deduct 1cm for hand drawn and corded tracks to ensure the track can be fitted easily within the recess. For motorised tracks we recommend you deduct 2cm from your wall to wall measurement to ensure enough space to fit the curtain around the motor.
Measuring Curtain Track lengths for Wave Curtains
If you are opting for a wave curtain the stack back is a mathematical calculation. A curtain stacks back 18cm per metre of curtain track with an 80mm wave heading, and 23cm per metre of track with a 60mm wave heading.
Please see the example below:
On a 3m track for a pair of curtains with an 80mm wave the stack back will be 3m x 18cm = 54cm / 2 = 27cm each side.
For a single curtain the curtain will stack 54cm one side.
On a 3m track for a pair of curtains with a 60mm wave the stack back will be 3m x 23cm = 69cm / 2 = 34.5cm each side.
For a single curtain the curtain will stack 69cm one side.
Wave curtains are particularly popular over bi-fold or sliding doors or over large expanses of floor to ceiling glass. If there is wall space to the side of the glazing the track length can be worked out so the curtain neatly sits on the side wall(s) clearing the glazing to allow the light to flood into your room.
