Client Brief
We are delighted to have helped a client with these beautiful wave curtains for their superb, self-build project. Our client came to us looking for some new window dressings for various rooms in their home including bedrooms, the study and their living space which featured a wide stretch of glazing approximately 7.5m wide!
Curtain Heading
Our client opted for the contemporary wave curtain heading. Neat and uniform in style, wave curtains lend themselves beautifully to wide windows or doors, and are particularly popular across bi-fold or sliding doors and large expanses of glass. This fit the client brief perfectly.
An 80mm wave curtain with 140 hook spacing was selected for the large main window dressing in the open-plan living space (shown in image above). For the remaining curtains in the adjacent study (shown opposite) and the bedrooms, 60mm wave curtains with 120 hook spacing were chosen.
Fabric Selection
After attending a bespoke design consultation with our Fabric and Colour Specialist, our client requested some fabric and lining samples to help with their decision making process.
For the open plan living space and the study, they opted for the Silent Gliss Colorama 2 fabric (colour ref 420). This semi-transparent fabric is an absolute staple in the Silent Gliss range, offering a uniform and stable weave for superb performance. With inherent acoustic properties to help adsorb sound in large, open plan spaces, this wide width fabric is perfectly suited to the large living space with extra-wide glazing. The vibrant red colour way also coordinates with the carpet in these rooms, delivering a polished and cohesive look that flows throughout.
In addition, the Laura Ashley Pussy Willow embroidered fabric in Hedgerow was specified for one of the bedrooms. Beautifully embroidered upon a neutral ground, this design brings an air of timeless charm to the space in a way that complements the existing scheme and furniture.
All of the curtains were lined with a standard lining. The white lining was selected for the red curtains and the Almond coloured lining was chosen for the Laura Ashley curtains. Learn more about our lining options here.
Curtain Tracks
5 curtain tracks were specified for this project to hang the client’s wave curtains. Our client selected the Silent Gliss 5600 electric curtain track for the extra wide, 7.5m curtain in the main living space. With motorised functionality for added convenience, this innovative track system offers smooth, super silent and fast operation.
For the remaining curtains in the study and the bedrooms, the Silent Gliss 6870 track was chosen. Suitable for medium weight curtains and compatible with the wave heading, this track features a square profile and can be wall or ceiling fixed.
Overview
Our client was delighted with the end result. The wave curtains and tracks bring the perfect finish to their newly self-built home, adding warmth and cosiness in a way that complements their overall scheme. The vivid tones and timeless patterns also accentuate the window dressings further, combining classic and contemporary style for a real statement.
