Client Brief
It was a pleasure working on this exciting and unique, digitally printed roller blind project for a client’s magnificent sitting room. The client came to us with a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve. They had artwork created specifically for roller blinds, but needed some guidance on specifying the best products to achieve the very best, high quality look. The client also requested some curtain advice to dress the remaining glazing within the space.
Roller Blind Solution
The client wanted bespoke, digitally printed roller blinds at either end of the room to resemble framed pictures on the walls. 2 Silent Gliss 4970 motorised roller blind systems were specified, providing a heavy duty solution with easy and convenient operation. In order to achieve the very best digital print quality, the Silent Gliss Mercuro fabric (colour ref 01) was also selected for the blinds. This polyester, acrylic coated, blackout fabric is suitable for digital printing and features a slight texture with reliable hanging characteristics. The roller blinds were then specified to fit inside the silent Gliss blind boxes. These boxes are specially designed to conceal the roller blind systems to deliver a seamless look, lending themselves perfectly to the client brief.
Curtain Solution
For the remaining windows, our client opted for multiple floor to ceiling length, 80mm wave curtains. The wave heading is a popular choice, delivering a neat, polished and contemporary curtain presentation. Following sampling and selection, the curtains were made up using the Silent Gliss Colorama 2 fabric (colour ref 400).
Silent Gliss 5600 electric curtain tracks were also specified to hang the curtains. Compatible with the wave heading, these tracks offer smooth, silent and fast operation and are made to measure for the perfect fit.
Motorisation
The above products would need to integrate with the client’s Control 4 system, so after reviewing all the options, it was agreed that the Silent Gliss Smart system was going to be specified. An open system designed to integrate with leading Building Management Systems (BMS), this innovative technology can transform your curtains and blinds into intelligent devices and automate them for enhanced efficiency, comfort and security. The Smart system can be supplied with selected Silent Gliss motorised track and blind systems (including the 5600 track and the 4960 / 4970 motorised roller blinds) – simply select ‘Smart System’ from the list under ‘track control options’. Please see the ‘Smart Control – Smart Building’ tab on the product pages for more information or get in touch for further help and advice.
