Silent Gliss have perfectly balanced design with technical performance in their new fabric collection. The new collection features fabrics with superior performance in sustainability, healthcare, acoustics, and light and energy management requirements, that lend themselves beautifully to domestic environments. Their fabrics are available in a wide range of colours to complement contemporary interior design colour schemes and styles, and are suitable for use across a variety of window dressings including curtains and a plethora of blind applications. All Silent Gliss’s fabrics are inherently flame retardant for added peace of mind, and are dyed before being woven so have increased light fastness and reduced light fading.

Silent Gliss categorise their fabrics into 4 transparencies:
A transparent fabric can be referred to as a voile / sheer. These fabrics deliver a light and airy feel, yet provide a level of privacy and shading. Building on the success of Colorama 1, Silent Gliss have extended the Colorama family to include a range of transparent fabrics delivering different technical and design properties:
Colorama 1 remains a best seller. It features a uniform and stable weave which ensures superb performance, across a wide range of shading applications.
Colorama 1 Multicolour is woven with a multicolour yarn for accentuated colour and texture, adding depth and dimension to your window dressing without compromising the hanging performance.
Colorama 1 Eco is a sustainable sheer fabric woven from exclusive Colorama Trevira CS eco yarn. The fabric is made from 100% recycled pre-consumer polyester.
Colorama 1 Alu features an aluminium backing that delivers superior light and heat reflective properties.
Colorama 1 Bioactive is made from Colorama Trevira CS Bioactive with inherent silver ions to deliver superior antibacterial properties, suited to healthcare environments.
Open Plan Living Spaces
With the increase in large open plan living spaces, that typically feature a lot of hard surfaces such as stone or wooden floors and kitchen units, demand for fabrics which offer superior acoustic properties are gaining popularity. We are also seeing ceiling heights getting higher and an increase in large expanses of glass which all help to bounce sound around a room. Colorama Acoustic and Colorama Multicolour Acoustic are superb transparent fabrics that offer superior acoustic performance and help to absorb sound. The acoustic performance is delivered through the shape of the weave, and the fabric remains light and airy to deliver against the design requirement.
Additional Transparent Fabrics
Polyflax is a structured polyester fabric with a beautifully, soft, natural linen-look, lending itself perfectly to domestic environments. It delivers all the design benefits of a natural linen, yet hangs beautifully, particularly in the wave heading type, due to the polyester content.
Someo is a soft, transparent fabric with a slightly textured weave that delivers a delicate, floaty feel, available in a variety of contemporary colours to complement modern interior design trends and styles.
A semi-transparent fabric delivers increased privacy and shading than a transparent fabric. They have a denser weave, yet don’t fully block the light so still deliver a light, floaty look. Building on the success and popularity of Colorama 2, Silent Gliss have extended the Colorama 2 family to include:
Colorama 2. In addition to Colorama 1, Colorama 2 remains a best seller. It offers increased shading and privacy than Colorama 1, and delivers superior performance across a variety of shading applications including curtains and a variety of blinds.
Colorama 2 Multicolour has a denser weave than Colorama 1 Multicolour, and is woven with a multicolour yarn to add texture and dimension to your window.
Colorama 2 Eco is a sustainable semi-transparent fabric woven from exclusive Colorama Trevira CS eco yarn. The fabric is made from 100% recycled pre-consumer polyester.
Colorama 2 Bioactive is made from Colorama Trevira CS Bioactive with inherent silver ions to deliver superior antibacterial properties, suited to healthcare environments.
Dimout fabrics help to darken rooms and Silent Gliss’s dimout fabrics also feature superior acoustic properties, helping to absorb sound which can be advantageous in large open plan living spaces. Silent Gliss rigorously test their fabrics to ensure the highest performance. Their dimout fabrics are rated on a Tv % score (visible light transmission) which vary depending on the fabric colour. A breakdown of the scores by colour are available on the fabric data sheets (please see the Technical Features tab on the fabric pages). Darker colours within the dimout portfolios have a Tv % score of zero, indicating no light transmission so these can be classified as blackout fabrics.
Colorama Dimout is a soft fabric which hangs beautifully, featuring a colour matched reverse for a uniform appearance inside and out.
Multicolour Dimout is woven with a multicolour yarn for textured room darkening, and to add depth and dimension to your curtains or blinds. It features a lighter coloured reverse that delivers higher heat reflectance, helping to keep the room at a pleasant ambient temperature.
Leviso is a popular fabric within the portfolio. It features a textured weave and a colour matched reverse for a uniform appearance inside and out.
Leviso Light. On the back of the popularity of Leviso, Silent Gliss have launched a lighter Leviso fabric that is soft to touch and features a natural linen textured weave. It hangs beautifully made up into curtains, and features a colour matched reverse.
Oscurante is a smooth, fabric with a beautiful soft drape and colour matched reverse for a uniform appearance inside and out.
All colour ways within the Deep and Somnia fabric collections deliver blackout properties making them ideal choices for bedrooms. Please note where the fabric is sewn at the bottom hem, light will penetrate through the pinholes. This will be less visible if the curtains sit in front of a wall, but will be more visible if the curtains sit in front of glazing. Specifying a blackout lining will overcome this issue.
Deep is a high performance blackout fabric with a light sheen and black reverse, with a soft drape. It also features superior acoustic properties helping to absorb sound.
Somnia has a subtle structured appearance, and is a popular choice for wave curtains.
Deep and Somnia are only suitable for 80mm waves, so please ensure 80mm wave gliders are specified on the curtain track.
There is a choice of 22 fabrics within the Silent Gliss fabric collection that can be made up into beautiful Wave or Swiss pleat curtains. All curtains made up in Silent Gliss fabrics are made to measure for a perfect fit. Please refer to the product pages for guidance on measuring for your curtains.
The wave curtain heading style delivers a neat and stylish window dressing for hotel chic at home! All of the Silent Gliss fabrics have been tested to ensure they drape beautifully in the wave folds and being wide width fabrics they can be made up without any joins in them for a seamless, polished finish. Please view our Wave Curtain Info page for more information and advice on the wave curtain heading style.
Swiss Pleat Curtains
If you are looking for a less uniform curtain heading you may wish to consider the Swiss Pleat curtain heading style. This simple curtain heading delivers a relaxed look. If space is limited (depth wise) it may be worth considering as it is a slimmer curtain heading to the Wave style. Please note due to the construction of the Swiss Pleat curtains we cannot put a lining on the fabrics. Please read our blog post for more information on the Silent Gliss Swiss Pleat curtain heading.
Layering a voile with a thicker curtain fabric is a popular option. This offers various shading / privacy options throughout the day. If space is limited for a double Wave curtain, the Swiss Pleat curtain heading style works well for a transparent / semi-transparent curtain behind a thicker Wave curtain.
Please view our range of Silent Gliss hand drawn, corded, wave, recess and motorised tracks suitable for hanging your curtains. Please note Swiss Pleat curtains need to be ordered as a complete system with the track as the track will be supplied without any gliders on it. The gliders are sewn into the curtain heading and the Swiss Pleat curtains arrive ready to hang on the track. For Wave curtains, please ensure the correct wave spacing is specified to match your curtain specification.
The Silent Gliss Metropole is a popular choice. This has been designed to look like a curtain pole with the benefits of a glider track inserted into the round profile. The Metropole is available in a range of contemporary colours to tonally work with the fabric colours.
