Wave Curtains – effortless elegance meets modern design

Discover the elegant sophistication of wave curtains – the perfect modern alternative to traditional pencil pleat, pinch pleat and goblet headings.  This innovative curtain system delivers a sleek, contemporary aesthetic that elevates any interior with its clean, minimalist appeal.  Wave curtains create a striking visual impact similar to eyelet curtains, but with a refined difference.  The fabric flows seamlessly from a specialised wave curtain track system, forming uniform, graceful waves that hang beautifully.  This create an uninterrupted, streamlined look that’s both sophisticated and inviting.

Important Note: Wave curtains will be made to fit your exact track length so that the number of hooks on your curtains, matches the number of hooking positions on the track.  Please reference our measuring guide.

Reasons to Choose Wave Curtains

Refined Elegance: Curtains maintain structured form throughout their entire drop, delivering a polished, sophisticated result

Contemporary Minimalism: Clean, uncluttered appearance that complements modern interior design

Light Optimisation: Wave curtains deliver a slimmer stack when open vs traditional curtain headings, maximising the natural light into your room and optimising views

Design Flexibility: Seamlessly integrates under pelmets or stands beautifully alone

Universal Compatibility: Suits all curtain widths and room heights with equal elegance.

Seamless Construction: when specifying a wide width fabric, the curtains can be made as a continuous panel eliminating the requirements for joins in the fabric (please note the drop of your curtains must be at least 20cm less than the fabric width to be able to make-up the curtains without any joins in them – fabric width dimension can be found on the fabric page under ‘Product Specification’ tab)

Specialised Installation: Compatible exclusively with curtain tracks featuring wave gliders

We offer 2 make-up options for our made to measure curtains – machine stitched and hand sewn.  You may choose to shop across the different make-up options for different rooms in your home.

We take immense pride in the fact that all our made-to-measure curtains (machine stitched and hand sewn) are crafted in the UK.  Supporting British craftsmanship and delivering exceptional, locally made products is at the heart of our commitment to our customers.

Machine Stitched:

For a more budget friendly and quicker option you may wish to choose our machine stitched service.

Please note we cannot interline machine stitched curtains.

Hand Sewn:

For a premium, more luxurious finish, with less visible stitching, you may wish to choose our hand sewn service.  To enhance the drape of your curtains and to deliver the best finish we use premium linings for our hand sewn service.

Hand sewn curtains can be lined, blackout lined and interlined for a beautiful drape (please note we don’t recommend interlining wave curtains as too much weight in the curtains can mean the fabric splays out at the bottom of the curtains detracting from the uniform wave shape).

We pride ourselves on the quality of our hand sewn service.  Find out more in our blog post.

Lead-times:

Machine stitched: 2 weeks from receipt of fabric into the workroom

Hand sewn: 3 weeks from receipt of fabric into the workroom.

Please note, we will try to deliver within these timeframes, however any issues with the fabric may delay dispatch of your curtains.  We work with the fabric house and workroom to resolve any unforeseen issues as quickly as we can and we will notify you if there will be a delay in dispatching your goods.

Voiles / Sheers:

Please note due to the delicate nature of voile / sheer fabrics these need to be machine stitched.

If you are making your wave curtains yourself once you know your track length you can use the Silent Gliss wave calculator (click here to download) to determine how many gliders will be on the track.  Simply select the track you require, if you have a pair of curtains (P) or a single (S) curtain, 80mm or 60mm and the hook spacing and the calculator will work out the glider quantity and number of pockets per curtain. There are approximately 50 pockets per metre so you can work out your fabric requirement.

Here are answers to the most common questions we receive with regards to wave sizing options.

Q. What is the difference between 80mm and 60mm waves?

A. The spacing determines the depth of the wave. On an 80mm wave the gliders are spaced 8cm apart and on a 60mm wave they are 6cm apart.   An 80mm wave gives a deeper wave (but fewer waves) and a 60mm wave gives shallower waves (but more of them).

Q. Should I go for an 80mm or 60mm wave?

A. This really comes down to personal preference but there are some considerations to take into account.

  • If you are limited depth wise (front to back) a 60mm wave requires less space.  Please see the Silent Gliss chart below that shows the space required for each option.
  • If you want to achieve the slimmest stack back, or space is limited to the side of your window or door, you may wish to consider an 80mm wave.   Likewise if you want your curtain to allow as much light into your room and not overhang the window (or door) an 80mm may be the preferred option.  60mm waves can look better on smaller windows as you get more ‘waves’ with the 60mm option.

Q. What is the most popular wave option?

A. Our most popular wave option is 80mm wave with 140 hook spacing.

Q. What are the stackback dimensions for a wave curtain?

A. An approximate stackback on an 80mm wave is 18cm per metre of curtain track, and on a 60mm wave it is 23cm per metre of curtain track.  Please note this increases for motorised tracks.  Please get in touch for guidance.

Q. What does hook spacing mean?

A. The hook spacing specified determines the number of empty pockets, in between each curtain hook, on the heading tape, which will affect the depth (front to back measurement) of your wave curtains.  Please see the Silent Gliss chart below for options and measurements.

To simplify this there are in essence 4 depths of wave:

Slimmest wave (front to back) 60mm 10 hook spacing (curtain is 10cm front to back – measurement A)

Going up to 60mm wave 12 hook spacing (measurement A is 12cm)

Then the 80mm wave with 14 hook spacing (measurement A is 14cm)

And finally 80mm wave with 16 hook spacing gives the deepest wave (measurement A is 16cm)

Please note the 80mm wave will give you the slimmest curtain stack when your curtains are open.
