Client Brief
We are delighted to have helped a client with this beautiful motorised wave curtain project in their stunning open plan dining room space. Having originally found us on social media, our client contacted us for some wide width curtains to cover their large expanse of bi-fold doors. We were also pleased to supply an accompanying curtain track to complete this superb window dressing.
Curtain Solution
For the window dressing, our client was keen on the popular wave curtain heading to complement their contemporary, minimalist style living space. Lending itself beautifully to extra wide windows and bi-fold / sliding doors, the wave heading provides a neat and stylish curtain presentation that sits effortlessly with modern interiors. Given the extent of coverage the curtains would need, a pair of floor to ceiling 80mm wave curtains with 160 hook spacing were selected to meet in the middle, providing a neat, minimised stack back either end when open to clear as much of the glazing as possible.

Fabric Selection
Having initially ordered some fabric samples in a range of colour ways from our website, our client chose the versatile Prestigious Textiles Jorvik fabric in Pebble. Featuring a plain design with a supple texture, this wide width, linen-look fabric works beautifully with the natural palette of the exiting decor. Wide width fabrics such as this work particularly well for the wave heading as they can deliver a seamless curtain that drapes beautifully without the need for joins (width and drop dependant). This really delivers a polished look.
Our client also chose to keep the curtains unlined to allow some light through when closed. This creates a beautifully airy feel whilst still delivering some privacy and shading throughout the day.
Curtain Track
The Somfy Glydea Ultra 60 RTS Electric curtain track was specified to hang the curtains. Mains wired, this superb track provides a smooth and quiet solution for curtain motorisation and is easy to install. Suitable for curtain weights up to 60kg, the track provides a soft open and close feature, touch-motion, variable speeds and can be controlled automatically via a wall switch, remote or even smartphone, Amazon Alexa and Google home assist via the Somfy Tahoma Switch.
A track measuring 1235.7cm in length was required for this project. The video at the top of this blog post demonstrates the curtains opening and closing automatically on this track.
Overview
Our client was delighted with the end result. Both the wave curtains and motorised function work effortlessly to complement the modern aesthetic of this beautifully styled room. Modern and minimalist, the curtains are the perfect coordinate with their sleek, contemporary style and versatile neutral colour way, adding a touch of hotel chic at home to the space.
