Jones Oakham 50mm Handcrafted Wooden Curtain Poles
This solid ash collection of carefully curated wood finishes is truly stunning. All of the poles in the Jones Oakham range are stained and polished by hand encouraging the natural grain of the wood to become visible. The wood tones vary from light to mid to dark tones, with a grey and white wood also available. Every component comes alive with its own unique look and is perfect for a natural, sophisticated look. Lead-time: Please note Jones hold some components painted / stained to the available colours in stock, however if any item does need painting / staining, as these are finished by hand in Jones’ workshop in Nottingham there is a 1 week lead-time. Once an order is placed we will be in touch to confirm a delivery date. If the goods are in stock in the colour / finish you require delivery will be 1-2 days. Please note the 6m poles are only suitable for light to medium weight curtains as the poles may bow with the weight of heavier curtains. Additional brackets can be used to support the poles but the rings won’t passover the brackets so 4 curtains would be required.
Curtain Pole Contents
This pole set comes complete with 2 cone style finials, brackets and rings. Ball style finials are also available. Additional brackets and rings can be purchased separately. Metal brackets are also available so please get in touch if you’d like a quotation for the pole with metal brackets.
This pole can be cut to your exact size for a small charge. Jones also offer a bespoke painted service on their 50mm diameter wooden poles. Eyelet Curtains
The eyelet size on readymade eyelet curtains is 40mm and as such isn’t compatible with a 50mm pole. If you are considering eyelet curtains we offer the option of a 66mm eyelet, as part of our made to measure curtain making service, which is an ideal size for a 50mm curtain pole. Poles up to 300cm are supplied as a single pole. Poles over 300cm are supplied in 2 pieces with a joining screw to connect the 2 poles. The joining screw goes inside the poles so is hidden and the centre bracket supports the join.
Contents: these curtain poles are supplied with poles, brackets, rings (if required), 2 finials and all the fittings required to install the poles.

Curtain Heading Recommendations
A 50mm curtain pole works exceptionally well with tall ceilings or extra wide windows and with heavy fabrics. Floor length, interlined curtains complement the wide diameter of this pole to deliver an opulent, yet well proportioned look.
Readymade pencil pleat curtains are suitable, however made to measure curtains that can be interlined are more suited to the look of this pole to deliver a real wow statement at your window.
Double or Triple Pinch Pleat Heading
A double or triple pinch pleat curtain heading is a popular choice with floor length, inter-lined, curtains that will drape beautifully. A double pinch pleat offers a more modern look, with a triple pinch pleat delivering a window dressing that is timeless and luxurious.
Eyelet Curtain Heading
Eyelet curtains are a popular choice for contemporary styling and are better suited to metal curtain poles. You can specify a 66mm eyelet when ordering our made to measure eyelet curtains which are an ideal size for a 50mm curtain pole.

Measuring Guide for a Curtain Pole:
Decide where the pole is to be positioned. This is usually above the window with the pole extending either side beyond the window.
Step 1: Measure the width of your window.
Step 2: The chart below provides guidance for making an allowance either side of your window for your curtain stack (shown as ‘B’ on the diagram above). This is particularly important if you want the curtains to clear the glazing when open. Please note the curtain heading, fabric thickness and lining specification will affect the width of the stack back. How much you would like the curtains to clear the window is down to personal preference. The chart below is however a good guide.
Step 3: Add the width of your window onto the B measurement (x2 for a pair of curtains) to give you a finished pole length (A).
Please note this is just a guide so we recommend choosing the pole length available within your preferred curtain pole range that best suits your requirements. All poles can be cut to size with a junior hacksaw. We offer a cut to size service on the Jones Handcrafted range.

The lead-time information on all products is advised in the product description or product specification tabs on the product pages. If you’d like us to check stock or advise delivery timings for a specific product please give us a call on 01590 615775 and a member of the team will be delighted to help.
Whilst we will endeavour to fulfil our delivery promises once the goods leave our warehouse we do rely on 3rd parties to fulfil their obligations. We therefore recommend that a fitter or decorator isn’t booked until the goods are safely in your hands and have been checked for damage and any missing items. We cannot be held responsible for any fitter or decorator cancellations.

To reduce the likelihood of having to return a product, we do recommend paint sample pots, wallpaper and fabric swatches are ordered prior to ordering the full sized items.
