Express Service Wave Curtains dispatched in 10 working days

Silent Gliss introduced the unique ‘wave curtains’ heading system that turns traditional curtains into a striking modern design statement. As an alternative to traditional curtain headings such as pencil pleat, pinch pleat or goblet, the wave system offers a more contemporary, neat and stylish curtain presentation. The finished appearance is similar to that of eyelet curtains but the fabric hangs directly below a curtain track in a neat and uniform style.  Shop our curtain tracks suitable for wave curtains here.

The ‘wave’ effect is created through combining a specially designed heading tape and wave glider-cord to get a soft and simple continuous wave effect. When opened the curtains stack back neatly and straight and when closed the fabric hangs in a smooth continuous wave effect.

Please note the width of the curtain is determined by the track length and should match the track length.  Please view our Wave Curtain Measuring Guide for advice on measuring.

Our YouTube video explains the wave curtain heading style in more detail.

Why Choose Wave Curtains?

  • The curtains maintain a structured form throughout the drop giving a neat and stylish look to your curtains
  • Minimal and contemporary in appearance
  • Reduced curtain stack depth maximising the light
  • Versatile – can be used under pelmets and valances or on their ow

Seams and Joins

As all fabrics in our Express service are standard width fabrics, the wave curtains from our express service range will come with seams where the fabric panels are joined to make up the curtains.  We are not able to guarantee the position of these seams and they might fall at the front of a wave.  This is quite normal when using standard width curtain fabrics.

Wide width fabrics enable us to make up a wave curtain without any joins /seams.  If you would prefer your wave curtains to be made up without any joins, please shop our range of wide width fabrics from leading branded manufacturers.  Please note this will be made up as part of our premium hand stitched service which has a longer lead time of 3 weeks.

Made for you!

Please download our measuring guide for advice on measuring so that your curtains are made to your required size.  When ordering your wave curtains you can specify if you would like weights added to enhance the drape of your curtains.  If you specify ‘yes’ a weight is positioned at each corner and one near each seam where the fabric is joined.  Weights are recommended for wave curtains to help the fabric hold the wave shape.  You can also specify your lining and choose between a standard, thermal or blackout lining.  Co-ordinating tiebacks and cushions can also be added to your order for a finishing touch.  Please note your curtains will arrive with the curtain hooks positioned to suit your specified wave spacing, so are ready to hang upon delivery.

Hanging your Wave Curtains

A wave curtain needs to be featured on a curtain track compatible with the wave gliders.  Please shop our range of curtain tracks suitable for the wave curtain heading style. Please note our Express Wave Curtains are made with the 80mm glider spacing so please order your track with 80mm wave gliders.  Please view our YouTube video on how to hang and dress your wave curtains upon delivery.  Please note wave curtains are not compatible with hand drawn curtain poles.

Here are the answers to the most common questions we receive with regards to wave gliders:

Q. What are the stackback dimensions for a wave curtain?

A. An approximate stackback on an 80mm wave is 18cm per metre of track.

Q. How do I know what my curtain width is?

A. The number of gliders on a wave curtain track is determined by the track length so the amount of fabric used is calculated from the track width.  If you order a curtain track and wave curtains from us we will ensure the number of hooks on the curtains matches the number of hook positions on the track so your curtains are ready to hang upon delivery.

Q. How do I work out the track length?

A. Again there is no right or wrong and this really comes down to your window / door, space around it, where you want your curtains to sit and the look you want to achieve.

If you are fixing the track wall to wall or in a recess we recommend you take the wall to wall measurement and deduct 10-15mm (this is just to be on the safe side to ensure the track fits).

If you aren’t fitting wall to wall as the stack back is a calculated measurement you can play around with track lengths to ensure the track is long enough for your curtain to clear your window or door (if this is the look you want to achieve).

Q. What is included with my track purchase?

A. If you purchase a curtain track from The Home Of Interiors we include everything you need to put the track up.  The end stops, end caps, gliders and brackets are all included.

Notes on brackets: if you are wall fixing you can’t use the standard nylon brackets that come as standard with the tracks.  This is because these brackets don’t extend far enough away from the wall for the wave to sit nicely without touching your wall or window.  If you purchase a track with wave gliders from us our prices includes the correct wall brackets for the 80mm wave options.

Ceiling brackets: the clamp style ceiling fix bracket is supplied on the tracks.  This gives a lovely flush fit to the ceiling so complements the seemless look of the wave curtain.

Wall fixings: please note to ensure you have the right wall fixings for your wall construction i.e. if you are drilling into plasterboard please use specific wall fixings for plasterboard walls.  There are a variety available in DIY or hardware stores.

Q. Do I need any accessories?

A. We sell a variety of accessories for the wave curtain tracks. Shop Wave Accessories here

Shop curtain hooks here.  Please note you don’t need any specific curtain hooks for wave curtains.  The Swish or Silent Gliss nylon ones are both suitable.  Our made to measure curtains will come with the hooks in the correct positions ready to hang.

If you are purchasing a hand drawn track and don’t want to touch your curtains to open and close them the Silent Gliss draw rods are a popular accessory.   Shop Silent Gliss draw rods here.

Q. What is an adjustable brake?

A. An adjustable brake is only available on a hand drawn wave track and keeps the curtains stacked back neatly so you get a nice, clean line on the leading edge of the wave curtain when they are opened.  Please see diagram below that explains this.

Q.What is an extension arm carrier?

A. An extension arm carrier is only available on a corded wave track and is required on a track that will be supplied in 2 halves, or on a track for a single curtain. The extension arm ensures the curtain covers the connecting piece (when the track is supplied in 2 halves) and goes right to the end of the track for a single stack curtain.  Please see diagram below.

Q. What is meant by enhanced wave?

A. Enhanced wave simply refers to the ‘add on’ of a draw rod carrier, adjustable brake or extension arm carrier (please see above).

Caring for your Made to Measure Wave Curtains

Please unpack your curtains as soon as you can once they have been delivered.  There may be creasing or some pressure marks  on the curtains.  These will normally fall out quickly after hanging in a warm room.  Alternatively, the curtains may be lightly ironed with a warm dry iron on the reverse side (please do not use any steam).  Hems and sides should never be pressed.  Steam and excessive pressure or temperature should be avoided as these can stretch or shrink the fabric.

Hanging & Dressing A Wave Curtain

To improve the drape of your wave curtains we recommend that once they have been dressed into the wave shape, they are loosely tied with ribbon in two or three places and left for a week or two (if you can!).  This will encourage the curtains to retain the wave shape when the ties are released.  Please view our YouTube video on how to hang and dress your wave curtains upon delivery.

Fabric Samples

We are delighted to be offering free of charge fabric swatches on all our Express Service fabrics.  Simply add fabric swatches of your favourite fabric(s) to your basket and checkout in the normal way.  Swatches will be sent out on the same working day via Royal Mail so should be delivered in 2-3 days.

As our Express made to measure products are made to order and are therefore non returnable, we would recommend samples are ordered prior to ordering your curtains, blinds or cushions to double check the fabric is right for you.

Please get in touch if we can offer any advice or if you have any questions with regards to our Express service fabrics and made to measure services.  Please email sales@thehomeofinteriors.co.uk or call us on 01590 615775.

We offer a range of lining options for you to choose from:

  • Lined – to enhance the drape of your curtains we specify a sateen twill lining which is 70% polyester / 30% cotton in ivory.  This is an off white / light cream colour.  A standard lining will help to protect your curtains from sun damage and prolong the life of your curtains.
  • Thermal – our thermal lining has a 1 pass coating to not only block sunlight, but also to offer thermal and sound insulation properties, helping to conserve energy and dampen noise.  This lining is 65% polyester and 35% cotton and is available in ivory, which is soft cream colour.
  • Blackout – blackout linings not only stop light from flooding into a room but also offer thermal properties helping to conserve energy.  They also help to absorb sound so can improve the acoustics in a room.  Our blackout lining is available in white or cream and is 100% polyester.

Delivery Leadtimes:

Once an order has been placed and processed our customer service team will be in touch via email to advise a dispatch date and send a tracking link if available.  The lead-time information on all products is advised in the product description or product specification tabs on the product pages.  If you’d like us to check stock or advise delivery timings for a specific product please give us a call on 01590 615775 and a member of the team will be delighted to help.

Whilst we will endeavour to fulfil our delivery promises once the goods leave our warehouse we do rely on 3rd parties to fulfil their obligations.  We therefore recommend that a fitter or decorator isn’t booked until the goods are safely in your hands and have been checked for damage and any missing items.  We cannot be held responsible for any fitter or decorator cancellations.

Please refer to our Returns page for information on returning a product.

Prior to ordering!

We hope that you are delighted with your purchase.  To reduce the likelihood of having to return a product, we do recommend paint sample pots, wallpaper and fabric swatches are ordered prior to ordering the full sized items.  We can also send out ring samples, colour toggles or off cuts of curtain poles / tracks to ensure the colour is right before you commit to order.  Please get in touch if we can offer any assistance.  Please email sales@thehomeofinteriors.co.uk or call us on 01590 615775 and a member of the team will be delighted to help.
