Light Control

Louvolite offer a range of fabric types catering to different shading and privacy requirements:

  • Sheer or voile blind fabrics offer a delicate balance of privacy and natural light. Their translucent quality allows sunlight to diffuse gently, creating a soft and inviting atmosphere. These fabrics are ideal for rooms where you want to maintain a sense of openness while still providing some privacy, such as bedrooms or living spaces.
  • Standard daylight blind fabrics offer a practical and versatile solution for controlling sunlight and privacy.  They offer increased privacy compared to a sheer / voile fabric, yet still allow the natural sunlight to cast a gentle light in your room.
  • Blackout blind fabrics are ideal for creating a dark environment. These fabrics are designed to block out light, making them perfect for bedrooms, nurseries, home cinema rooms or media rooms.  In addition, blackout blinds also provide excellent privacy and thermal properties.  Available with a co-ordinated coloured back, or a white back to help reflect heat out of your room.
  • Specialty blind fabrics designed to reduce glare are a valuable addition to any home office,  television or media room.  A screen fabric is a semi-transparent fabric, offering superb shading and protection whilst still maintaining a view to the outside world!  These fabrics are often treated with a special coating that filters and diffuses light, minimising the harsh reflections that can strain your eyes. By reducing glare, these blinds can improve your comfort and productivity when working on screens for extended periods.

Thermally Efficient

All Louvolite fabrics have a UV and Energy Rating (ER) enabling you to specify fabrics that help your home to become more thermally efficient.

If you specify a blind fabric with a high UV rating, the blind will help to reduce solar gain during the summer months helping to keep your room at an ambient temperature, whilst helping to insulate your home during the winter months.

The Energy Rating score enables you to specify fabrics that help to reduce thermal loss when used in conjunction with typical glazing systems:

  • Good (ER3): fabrics with an ER3 rating are considered to be the essential fabrics for window furnishings.  Fabrics that fall into this category perform to a reasonable standard.  Savings of up to 11% per year can be made with these fabrics*.
  • Better (ER2): fabrics that fall into this category perform better than standard fabrics and are classed as effective in helping to reduce thermal loss.  Typical savings of up to 12% per year can be achieved*.
  • Best (ER1): these fabrics offer the best performance and are the most thermally efficient.  Savings of up to 15% per year can be achieved with these fabrics*.

* these % can be achieved when used with typical glazing systems.

Environmental Focus

Sustainability is such an important issue.  Louvolite have started to introduce recycled yarn into some of their most popular fabrics to help consumers make conscious choices and for us all to do our bit to help the environment.

The yarn suppliers for Louvolite’s recycled fabric ranges converts more than 2 million consumer waste PET bottles daily into value added textile yarns using patented technology.  The Oeko Tex standard 100 certifies that their supplier uses yarns draw from 100% post-consumer PET bottles.

In addition, all of Louvolite’s fabrics have been tested to confirm that no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCS) or hazardous substances will be released into the environment in quantities that are recognised as potentially damaging to occupants of dwellings or buildings.

Louvolite’s best selling plain fabric Carnival, available in a daylight / light filtering and blackout fabric, is now made using recycled polyester yarns.

In addition Louvolite offer flame retardant fabrics, fabrics that have a solar protection coating that reflects and filters light more effectively than conventional fabrics, along with ultra fresh fabrics that help to protect against odour causing bacteria and fungi.  Use the search filters on the blind pages to help you find the perfect fabric for your requirements.

In Conclusion:

Louvolite blinds offer a perfect blend of style and functionality. With their extensive fabric collection and innovative features you can find the perfect window solution to elevate your home’s aesthetics and comfort.
