Mixing Little Greene ‘Spring Flower’ and ‘Bamboo Floral’ Wallpapers

Mixing prints can be a great way to add interest to a room and create a confident room scheme.  Mixing these two wallpaper designs might seem unexpected at first, but they actually work beautifully together. This East-meets-West fusion of delicate florals and bold bamboo creates a space that is both invigorating and surprisingly harmonious.

Here’s why they complement each other!

  • Unexpected Harmony: the calming Portland Stone background of the Spring Flowers wallpaper perfectly offsets the vibrant red blooms and blue-grey bamboo of the Bamboo Floral design.  The limited colour palette (greens, whites, and a touch of orange) ensures a cohesive look despite the contrasting patterns.
  • Textural Play: the Spring Flowers boasts a beautiful floral motif, while the Bamboo Floral features a subtle striated texture that mimics real bamboo stalks. This interplay of textures adds depth and visual interest to the room.
  • Modern with a Vintage Twist: the Spring Flowers wallpaper draws inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement, offering a touch of timeless elegance. The Bamboo Floral, with its bold orange blooms, adds a touch of contemporary flair. This unique combination creates a space that feels both modern and nostalgic.

Thibaut ‘Tahoe’ Fabric

The ‘Tahoe’ fabric design from Thibaut in the Lagoon colour-way is the perfect complement to the Bamboo wallpaper.  The woven fabric with a chenille yarn will deliver a rich textured feel to your interiors.

The fabric features a calming aqua blue hue with a subtle wave pattern that beautifully complements the blue-grey bamboo featured in the wallpaper.  The fabric adds a touch of serenity to the space and balances out the boldness of the wallpaper. Try making this one into cushions, to be sat on big squishy sofa.

Jones Lunar Curtain Poles

To finish the scheme off, the Jones Lunar ‘Burnished Brass‘ metal curtain pole adds a layer of finish to the room. The pole is chosen with the metal ball finial, a traditional finial design complimenting the archive inspired furnishings.

Jones is a brand we highly recommend as it offers exceptional quality at fantastic prices with stylish finial designs.  The poles are available in 3 finishes; matt nickel (which is very similar to a brushed steel or stainless steel finish), chrome and burnished brass (which has a brushed antique finish to it).

If you would like to check any finishes prior to ordering the full pole set please click here to order a ring sample.

Heat Paint by Little Greene

Complete the room with ‘Heat’ a punchy paint choice by Little Greene. The perfect colour complimentary to the Bamboo floral wallpaper, this colour pulls the look together. The fiery warm tone ‘Heat’ is the ideal contemporary colour, however if you’re not feeling brave enough to use it on your walls use the colour on the underside of your shelving for an interesting contrast.

You can grab a sample pot of the paint colour here and try it out for yourself! Need further paint inspiration? You can book a free Paint and Colour consultation with us here.

There are several ways to incorporate the designs into your room scheme:

  • Statement Wall: create a dramatic focal point by using the Bamboo Floral wallpaper on an accent wall. Balance it out with the Spring Flowers on the remaining walls. This is perfect for larger rooms or spaces with minimal natural light, as the lighter Spring Flowers wallpaper will help brighten the space.
  • High-Low Drama: elevate your design with a vertical split. Use the Bamboo Floral wallpaper on the lower half of the walls, creating a sense of grounding. Top it off with the Spring Flowers wallpaper for a touch of whimsy and a lighter feel at eye level.
  • Furniture and Decor: embrace natural textures and tones with furniture in antique brass, light woods and woven materials.
  • Fabrics: use the Thibaut fabric for upholstery items or made into sumptuous cushions.  The Thibaut fabric layered on a sofa upholstered in the ‘Papaya’ velvet by Linwood would deliver a truly luxurious feel.
  • Accent Colours: to pick up on the colours in the Bamboo Floral wallpaper add pops of orange and green to your accessories to create a fresh, spring feel.

Make sure you consider the amount of natural light in your room when choosing your fabrics.  If the rooms get a lot of sunlight, you may want to choose a fabric that is a big lighter in colour.  Don’t be afraid to experiment!
