Creating a Home you Love

Client Brief

It was a pleasure working with a client on this full scale house project to help create a home they love. Having bought the property, the client reconfigured the layout, renovated the entire house and then came to us for styling advice and recommendations to help complete the project and bring their visions to life. We were delighted to supply wallpaper, paint and window dressing treatments including fabrics, curtain poles / tracks and a range of innovative blind solutions for a plethora of rooms throughout their home.

Entrance / Snug

In the entrance / snug, the client chose to paint the walls in Slaked Lime (105) by Little Greene, a pure, soft and neutral white. This was paired with panelling in Little Greene’s Olive Colour (72) paint, adding depth and dimension to the space.

For the window dressing, a pair of beautiful windowsill length triple pinch pleat curtains were specified in the gorgeous Sanderson Orchard Tree fabric (colour ref Lime). The fabric was selected to complement the feature paint colour and introduce a pop of red to add warmth. The design also brings an air of natural charm to the scheme in keeping with the property’s outdoor surroundings full of thriving trees, shrubs and flowers! To hang the curtains, we recommended a top fix Silent Gliss 23mm Metropole with Flush End Caps in Ecru, delivering a discrete solution that would blend harmoniously with the wall colour.

Open Plan Kitchen

The client was looking for a beautiful neutral tone to decorate their large open plan kitchen space. In response, we recommended the Little Greene Mushroom (142) paint, offering a classic gentle interior colour with warm undertones.

Stunning wave curtains were specified in the Silent Gliss Colorama 2 fabric (colour ref 402) to dress the patio doors. A popular wide width semi-sheer with various performance properties, this fabric offers a level of privacy whilst still allowing the light to filter in. The colour was carefully selected to match the kitchen units for cohesion and flow throughout the space. To complete the window dressing, Silent Gliss 30mm Metropoles with Stud End Caps in Taupe were also chosen to complement the larger scale of the room and work tonally with the painted walls.

For the remaining windows, the client opted for bespoke made to measure roller blinds with fabric matched covered fascias. In the New House Textiles Byron Cream fabric, these stunning sheer blinds provide privacy whilst allowing natural sunlight to gently diffuse into their living space, pairing beautifully with the curtains.

Sitting Room

The client’s vision for their sitting room was to create a calm, inviting and light space for them to enjoy. Having seen their Pinterest board, we discussed ideas and made an array of suggestions to help bring their ideas to life.

In response, 2 pairs of triple pinch pleat curtains in the Warwick Taipei fabric (colour ref Ice) were selected. These were hung on 45mm Rolls Modern Country curtain poles in Brushed Ivory to complement the neutral colour scheme. The wider 45mm diameter balances the scale of the large room effortlessly. The poles over the patio doors were also fixed with recess brackets so the curtains can draw as close to the side walls to clear as much of the glazing as possible.

In keeping with the timeless neutral aesthetic, we recommended the Laura Ashley Josette wallpaper in White. An ornate damask, this classic design is undeniably romantic and with subtle metallic detail on a white ground, adds a touch of French glamour and understated elegance to the room. Enhanced with the client’s choice of stylish furniture and finishing touches, the outcome delivered against the brief perfectly, creating a bright, refined and serene space to relax in.

Family Room

For the family room, we supplied triple pinch pleat curtains in the Prestigious Textiles Tailor Sedwell fabric (colour ref Kingfisher) to dress all the windows. Supplied in pairs to meet in the middle when drawn, the curtains bring a tactile element to the space. Laura Ashley ribbed ball 35mm wooden curtain poles were also chosen to complete the look.

In terms of paint colours, we recommended the Little Greene Gauze (106) paint to complement the curtains. We also suggested Hicks’ Blue (208) as a feature colour at one end of the room to help zone the space. This proved really effective in adding depth, dimension and visual interest.

Cloakroom

Cloakrooms are the ideal space to experiment with design and colour. Using this space to step outside comfort zones has become a popular choice, with many embracing bold wallpapers and paint colours to showcase their creativity and design flair.

The client achieved this perfectly with the amazing Reverie wallpaper by Little Greene (colour ref Nile). For the panelling, we also recommended the complementing Little Greene Aquamarine – Deep (198) paint to complete the look, picking up on colour accents within the wallpaper design. The end result is simply stunning! The walls come together with the unit, lighting and accessories perfectly to create a timeless scheme enriched with interest and style.

Hall & Stairs

The hallway also featured some beautiful panelling that was initially painted in Little Greene’s Slaked Lime Mid (149) to match the rest of the walls in the room. However, we challenged this idea and recommended painting the panelling in Little Greene Mushroom (142) to add definition and complement the adjoining kitchen walls for a cohesive look. The client took our suggestion and loved the end result! The neutrals also pair well with the wood flooring, delivering timelessness and sophistication.

For the windows in the hall and landing, bespoke made to measure sheer roller blinds in the New House Textiles Byron Cream fabric were specified, together with fabric matched covered fascias for the ideal balance of light and privacy.

Master Bedroom

Delighted with the look of the sitting room, the client opted to carry the Laura Ashley Josette wallpaper into their master bedroom, this time in the White/Dove Grey colour way. This was used to decorate all the walls for an enveloping feel. A pair of curtains were also specified in the Designers Guild Arolla fabric (colour ref Pebble), complete with a triple pinch pleat heading to complement the classic style of the decor. These were hung on the Laura Ashley ribbed ball 35mm wooden curtain pole in Pale Dove Grey to co-ordinate tonally with the wallpaper, creating a harmonious scheme throughout the space. See image 1 below.

Guest Bedroom 1

The property’s first guest room featured the Laura Ashley Josette wallpaper in Duckegg on a single feature wall. We also recommended the Little Greene Aquamarine – Pale (282) paint colour for the remaining walls to complement the wallpaper. This pairing brings an air of freshness to the scheme, creating a calm and relaxing space to welcome guests. For the window treatment, the client selected another pair of triple pinch pleat curtains in the Designers Guild Arolla fabric (colour ref Alabaster), paired with the Jones Seychelles handcrafted 40mm curtain pole with end cap finials in Haze for an air of simplicity and paired back charm. See image 2 below.

Guest Bedroom 2

For the second guest bedroom, the client opted for a different look, injecting a splash of bold colour and unique design into the scheme. After sharing their thoughts and visions, we recommended the stunning Romo Toulin Edra fabric in the Pimento colour way for a beautiful window dressing. This decorative geometric stripe is printed onto the popular Linara fabric and was made up into a stylish pair of triple pinch pleat curtains. The Laura Ashley ribbed ball 35mm wooden curtain pole in Cotton White was also chosen to hang the curtains.

We also suggested Little Greene’s Tuscan Red (140) paint colour for the feature wall behind the bed, paired with Julie’s Dream (26) on the remaining walls. These work amazingly with the curtains, picking up on distinct colour accents within the fabric to tie the look together. The final result was nothing short of stunning. The fabric and paint selections work together effortlessly with the beautifully styled bed, creating a warm and cosy scheme that exudes rustic character and personality.

Bathrooms & Laundry Room

All bathrooms and the laundry room in our client’s home featured wood Venetian blinds from the Prestigious Textiles Gallery collection. The client opted for 35mm slats in the Pure White finish, offering a versatile look that fit seamlessly with the design and colours of each room.

Each blind was made to measure for the perfect fit and provided sufficient privacy and shading flexibility whilst allowing the daylight in. This was particularly beneficial for the bathrooms where privacy is key.

Annex

The client also requested suitable blind solutions for the kitchen and bedroom in their separate annex space. For the kitchen window (image 1 below), we recommended a bespoke made to measure roller blind in the Louvolite Cotton Flower Blush fabric. This beautifully complements the quirky pink kitchen units while adding an element of fun and lighthearted pattern to the scheme.

For the annex bedroom windows (image 2 below), the Hallis Honeycomb blinds in the hopsack blackout white fabric were chosen. These worked particularly well at the low window, opening with a very slim stack to maximise light into the room and provide a clear view to the beautiful cherry blossom outside!
