Silent Gliss Double Hand Drawn Curtain Tracks – 6840 / 6840

A double curtain track is ideal for layering a voile / sheer fabric with a heavier curtain, offering flexibility in privacy and shading throughout the day.  Layering fabrics is a stylish way to dress your window and adds warmth and texture to your interiors.

This product has been set up to help with purchasing two tracks to be used as a double system.  Please note the tracks are not joined together so for ceiling fixing you will just position one track in front of the other, allowing room for your curtains in between.  The Silent Gliss Universal smart fix brackets are required for wall fixing, as these brackets allow two tracks to be fitted onto the same bracket (please see the bracket tab for further information and an installation video).  The Universal smart fix brackets are only available in white, silver and black so the double track colour options have been co-ordinated with these brackets.

If you require a double track in another colour (matt white, antique bronze, charcoal or anodic grey) and are ceiling fixing please purchase two Silent Gliss 6840 tracks and position one in front of the other.

Silent Gliss 6840 Curtain Track

The Silent Gliss 6840 curtain track is a neat, attractive curtain track suitable for medium weight curtains.

Glider Options

You can specify which gliders you would like on the back and front track.  Standard 2C gliders are suitable for pencil, pinch pleat and other gathered headed curtains.  If your curtains are on the heavy side we would recommend upgrading to the roller gliders as these offer a smoother opening and closing of your curtains.  Wave gliders can be specified on both or either track, and are required if you are hanging a wave curtain.  Click here for further information on the wave curtain heading style.

Ceiling Fixing

If you are ceiling fixing your tracks you can choose between any combination of the glider options as you can position the tracks accordingly to accommodate the spacing required for your curtains.

Wall Fixing

For wall fixing, the spacing in between the curtains is dictated by the bracket projection.  If you order the double track with standard or roller gliders on the back and front tracks you can select between the 150mm and 200mm Universal Smart fix brackets.  If you specify a 60mm or 80mm wave glider on either of the tracks we will supply the 200mm Universal Smart fix brackets as you will require a longer projection to allow space for the folds on the wave curtains.  Please note there is room for a 60mm wave voile on the back track, and a 60mm wave curtain on the front track, however there is only enough room for one 80mm wave.  A Swiss pleat or pencil pleat voile works well behind an 80mm wave curtain and is a popular option.

Bay Windows

This track is also suitable for bay or L shaped windows, however they do need to be bent in the factory.  Please download our measurement form here.  For wall fixing please supply the wall measurements and we will make the correct projections for your curtains.  For ceiling fixing please either supply the wall measurements and we will make our standard projections for double tracks (or if you know exactly how far away from the wall you would like each track to be installed please state this on the measuring form).  Alternatively, please supply back of track measurements and we will make the tracks to your measurements without any projections being made.  Please get in touch if we can offer any advice or assistance with your purchase.

Please note these tracks are all made to measure and cannot be returned or exchanged unless faulty.

Measuring Guide for a Curtain Track:

Decide where the track is to be positioned. This is usually above the window with the track extending either side beyond the window.

Step 1: Measure the width of your window.

Step 2: The chart below provides guidance for making an allowance either side of your window for your curtain stack (shown as ‘B’ on the diagram above). This is particularly important if you want the curtains to clear the glazing when open. Please note the curtain heading, fabric thickness and lining specification will affect the width of the stack back. How much you would like the curtains to clear the window is down to personal preference. The chart below however is a good guide.

Step 3: Add the width of your window onto the ‘B’ measurement (x 2 for a pair of curtains) to give you the finished track length (A).

Recess Fitting

If you are fitting your track wall to wall or within a recess we recommend you take the wall to wall measurement and deduct 1cm for hand drawn and corded tracks to ensure the track can be fitted easily within the recess. For motorised tracks we recommend you deduct 2cm from your wall to wall measurement to ensure enough space to fit the curtain around the motor.

Measuring Curtain Track lengths for Wave Curtains

If you are opting for a wave curtain the stack back is a mathematical calculation. A curtain stacks back 18cm per metre of curtain track with an 80mm wave heading, and 23cm per metre of track with a 60mm wave heading.

Please see the example below:

On a 3m track for a pair of curtains with an 80mm wave the stack back will be 3m x 18cm = 54cm / 2 = 27cm each side.

For a single curtain the curtain will stack 54cm one side.

On a 3m track for a pair of curtains with a 60mm wave the stack back will be 3m x 23cm = 69cm / 2 = 34.5cm each side.

For a single curtain the curtain will stack 69cm one side.

Wave curtains are particularly popular over bi-fold or sliding doors or over large expanses of floor to ceiling glass. If there is wall space to the side of the glazing the track length can be worked out so the curtain neatly sits on the side wall(s) clearing the glazing to allow the light to flood into your room.
