We love The Little Greene Wallpaper range; the stories, history and provenance behind the designs are fascinating. The designs themselves are truly stunning and will make a real design statement in any room.
The Crowe Hall Lane Wallpaper design is part of Little Greene’s 19th Century Wallpaper range. The 1800s were a key period in the evolution of wallpaper production. During this century, the introduction of continuous paper reels from France, and subsequently roller-printing in 1840, replaced the traditional techniques by which individual rolls (called ‘pieces’) were printed by hand. The flamboyant, decorative style of the Regency Period championed the use of wallpaper. In particular, a fashion for striped wallpapers emerged as they became commercially available; a direct result of this era’s innovative production methods.
A large-scale, late-19th century wallpaper with a bold pattern of exotic birds and flowers. The paper had been used in a curving stairwell in Crowe Hall, a Suffolk manor house; the vertical nature of the trailing pattern emphasised the height of the room. It is likely to have been hung up around the turn of the century and was recovered during extensive conservation work to the house much later. This design is an existing and much-admired part of the Little Greene portfolio; it is available in three new colourways as well as four existing ones.
Complementing paint colours include:
Oak Apple (63), Aquamarine – Deep (198), Stone-Dark-Warm (36), Whitening (41), Silt (40), Rolling Fog (143), Linen Wash (33), Tracery II (78), Aquamarine – Deep (198), Pale Lime (70), Mischief (13), French Grey (113)
